Since the beginning of the year I have been trying to night toilet train the boys. It was a very slow start.
At the beginning they were wetting their bed each night and I was up 2/3 times during the night changing beds and pj's and I was washing bedding every day. This wasn't so bad because during the warmer months, I could hang the washing out on the line before work and it would be dry by the time we got home in the evening.
I tried everything - no drinks before bed, making sure they went to the toilet before bed, taking them to the toilet before I went to bed, bribed them with money.
Things started to improve, with Callum. Callum started to have a dry evening about once a week and then it slowly turned into 3 nights in a row. Rowan, well I was lucky to get 3 nights in a month.
As the months turned into winter I bought extra bedding because things were not drying quite as quickly in the house. But I persisted hoping that things would get better.
On the weekend Zac and Angus came over for a sleepover and I had to put a drynights nappy on for Zac, so I figured I would put one on my boys as well. Just like magic, for the first time in an extremely long time, Ewan and I had a full nights sleep with no interruptions. I loved it. Yes their pants were wet in the morning but the bedding was dry and so were their pj's - no extra washing.
I have now decided the extra hours of uninterrupted sleep far out ways the cost to purchase the pants. So until it starts warming up I'm now prepared to take one step back in the toilet training wars.

i can imagine how frustrating it must be to go so long without a full nights sleep. As someone whose bladder didn't grow at the same rate as her body until she was 16, (that's how the specialists explained it.), i submit one suggestion that it would seem you have not tried. Fill those bladders full of liquid all day long, as often as you can, even before bed. Bladders grow like balloons, they have to be filled to stretch.
and that's all for the unsolicited obnoxious advice. otherwise, good luck. Enjoy your sleep.
by the way, i love your blog background. You inspired me to change mine. i couldn't remember if i told you that before, so here it might be again.
it's been my experience that the path with least resistence sometimes has the prettiest scenery. and we all need to take the scenic route every so often!
good luck!
I struggled with my my boy!! And in the end I gave in to leaving it for a couple of months and then low and behold we had not wet nites .... I think they have a body clock of their own and will do it in their own sweet time .... lol
