It was the best of times, it was the worst of times

Scene ~:~ The Black's home Christmas day 2008

Let's get the worst of times out the way so we can get to the good stuff. Ewan woke up with gastro, BAD gastro. He did put on a brave face for lunch but for most of the day he was very green. Good news about this was that he was unwell and not me! Christmas just wouldn't of happened if I had been out due to illness.

Now to all things wonderful :~

So this Christmas was the Christmas of the Wii. For months SANTA has been stock piling all things Wii. Console, remotes, nunchucks, wheels, games. These had all taken up residence in my wardrobe only to magically appear on Christmas morning to the delight of three joyful children.

Ewan received a new Crumpler satchell to carry his laptop, and a headlight for when he goes camping.

I must have been good this year because I got my number one item on my list - 50mm lens.

Lunch we shared with our friends the Rowans. I made the most PERFECT turkey this year. Golden brown on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside with a proscuitto and pinenut stuffing...makes me hungry just thinking about it.

The weather was perfect. Warm enough to sit outside for lunch and enjoy our feast.

In the evening Mum and everyone came over. Again we ate way too much. We exchanged gifts, well those that remembered to bring their gifts (someone forgot MY presents, but it was worth the wait). And then we ate some more, desserts this time.

On Boxing Day we normally go to the movies, this year wasn't any different. We saw Bedtime Stories then had Ewan's Dad his brother Angus, and family, over for dinner.

This year felt just perfect. Everyone was happy, except Ewan. Everyone received what they asked Santa for. The food was abundant. The company was excellent. And the best thing was that we didn't have to go anywhere, everyone came to us. While I was completely exhausted at the end of it all, it was nice not having to run around. This meant that the kids could just play with their new gifts.

All in all a PERFECT holiday season.

Boys and their toys

Yeah, everyone got into the picture

HEY, you're not Santa!
