It was the end of year school service on Monday night.
The first half of the evening was centred around Christmas and the true meaning - Christ. That's one of the things I love about our school, being a Christian and attending church regularly is the norm and openly spoken about.
And the second half was a graduation ceremony for the year 7's who will be leaving the school and starting High School next year.
Miss A was part of the school choir this year, which she has thoroughly enjoyed. The group of about 40 children sung a few numbers throughout the service.
At the end of the evening Miss A was given a beautiful glass Christmas ornament from the music teacher. As she handed it over to me for safe keeping she clearly gave me the instructions to not drop it....yes you know what comes next....a blur of colour slipped through my fingers and shattered, green and red and gold, all across the floor. Instantly we had tears. I felt like the worse mother ever.
I quickly rectified the situation by going up the music teacher, explaining what had happened (she informed me that this was not the first broken one for the evening). I took the last ornament and gave it to my devastated daughter. Instantly the tears dried up and we proceeded quickly, but carefully, to the exit of the auditorium.

My heart sunk as I read that. i just bought three new christmas baubles from glass blower Eamon Vereker and I can't think what to do with them as I'm so scared that they will get broken.
