Why????

Why do you wake up grumpy when you have had 10 hours of sleep, interrupted with a trip to my side of the bed at 2am?

Why do you always manage to find your way through the dark to my side of the bed at 2am?

Why do you always sleep in on the days I work and bounce out of bed early on the days we don't have to rush?

~:~

Why do you always insist on having toast when I have no bread and can only offer cereal for breakfast?

Why do you always want to wear THAT t-shirt that is sitting at the bottom of the laundry basket?

Why, when we go out shopping, do you have to pester me to purchase those lollies or that toy when we have plenty, plus some, to satisfy any other child at home?

Why do you have to whinge? I don't, so why do you?

Why do I always have to feel like a UN delegate trying to broker a peace treaty between you and your sibling?

Why, when I say NO, do you think I've given you the green light to cry, throw a tantrum, scream and yell, in order to get me to change my mind?

~:~

Why do you reject my lovingly prepared meals in the evening if it remotely resembles something healthy?

Why do I have to repeat myself a million times (no exaggeration here) before you action my request?

Why is it always just one more game, or just five more minutes?

Why do you fight sleep. What part of seeing mum and dad getting frustrated with your bedtime excuses do you enjoy?

~:~

WHY? - because you're young; because you're discovering how to vocalise your thoughts; because you're still learning; because you love me; because you can

Why do you insist on hitting your brother as I am telling him off for a minor infraction thus getting yourself in more trouble than him.
