changing this picture to black & white made a blurry shot workZac and Angus joined our family this weekend. Nadine & Mick have gone to Singapore for a wedding and a bit of r&r so the boys have their social calender filled with playdates and sleepovers.
Friday night all the boys (including Rowan & Callum) slept over at Ingrid's. By the time I arrived on Saturday to pick them all up Olivia was well and truly over having a bunch of boys in her space.
I now have a new found respect for my mother and an understanding of why we never went anywhere. As a kid going into the city meant dressing in your sunday best, it was a big occasion. I now get this. The thought of dragging all the kids anywhere public this weekend sent my heart racing. A task as simple as going to the grocery store just to get a few items turned into a United Nations negotiation effort
...don't touch that...you just ran into that lady, say sorry..."can I have that chocolate" NO, "can I have a drink?" NO..."I need the toilet" can you just wait a minute (I didn't feel like abandoning my trolley after the effort it took)...stay together...hang onto the trolley...IF I HAVE TO TALK TO YOU AGAIN...AHHHHHHH
This weekend was made that little more stressful as Ewan had set aside this weekend to complete an assignment so I tried to take the kids out of the house as much as possible.
We visited the park as few times, went to church, went to the Gollan's, watched motorised car racing at the track just up the road from us, went to the indoor play cafe where they have slides and a bouncy castle.
Each night I welcomed the silence that bedtime brought. The kids were all so exhausted from each days activities that I never heard a peep from them once their head hit the pillow.
Tonight was shift change. Mum picked the Zac & Angus up this evening. The next few evenings they will stay at mum's place but they will be returning for a few nights at the end of the week. I have 3 days to prepare myself and the house.
On another note...I started a photography class last week. At my first class I learnt about shutter speed and apeture. So at any opportunity I have been pulling out my camera and snapping away, even the boys lego was set up so I could experiment with depth of field. In a lot of my shots my settings haven't been right, thank goodness for digital cameras, but I am excited and eager to learn more.

Crazy cousins are the best!!
It is so nice (and smart) of you to all take turns!! :)
You and Ailish are really out numbered now...
Sounds like the best kind of chaos! And when you're thrown into having more kids for a few days, it helps w/mental birth control.
So. Great photos. Keep up the good work, can't wait to see more!
What are sisters for! I love your photos and the fact that you are taking a class. Kids can be so time consuming and brain draining. Learning with "private time" can be so uplifting no matter what the class is for. Ailish is really beautiful and so grown up now. Love ya...A/di
i have a similar experience when i take my four to the store. It's a character test like no other. not just my character - other people can be so helpful OR so rude.
have fun with the photography class. sounds like fun.
I can't thank you enough. You are inspirational and uncomplaining. I said to Mum tonight that knowing you guys were taking care of the boys meant that Mick and I were truely able to relax and NOT worry about them at all.
