On a night just like any other

Going back a couple of weekends ago Ewan decided to take the boys camping. I'm telling you, if I could have bottle up the excitement that came from those two little boys and sold it I would be a rich women.

They were excited about sleeping in a tent, in their sleeping bags. They were excited about being able to shine their torches at night. But what they were most excited about was toasting marshmallows on a stick.

Simple pleasures generally bring the most joy.

So I packed the boys up and sent them on their way.

I will admit to being a little jealous ~ not about sleeping on the floor, or about how cold the evening would get, or about the constant smell of ash ~ but about participating in the joy and watching memories being created, so I gave Rowan & Callum both a camera with strict instructions to take LOTS of photos.

So while the boys were bonding I thought I would get some girl time in with my sisters.

Each of us had a quilting project to work on and so sew we did.

That was until 11:27pm when the house shook. Oh my goodness did the house shake. I thought maybe a car had gone through the house but on inspection I realised that that wasn't the case. So Ingrid got on the phone to Neil who informed us that we had just experienced an earthquake........AN EARTHQUAKE........OMG........ADELAIDE DOESN'T GET EARTHQUAKES......RIGHT!!!

Well apparently we do!

In a need for knowledge I went searching for a radio.....don't come to my house in an emergency....I don't have a radio; I have a tiny alarm clock radio that is on the fritz. The volumn button doesn't work and it doesn't pick up stations very well.

So the three of us huddled around this tiny thing trying to figure out what was going on.

In the end the facts were these:

At 11:27pm on the 16th April a 3.8 earthquake shook Adelaide. The epicentre was 5 minutes from my home

We survived, and my camping boys slept through the whole thing...........typical males!

I'm glad that not even an earthquake could ruin the boys experience!! Oh & by the photos it looks like I actually used that damn sewing machine & achieved something, when in actual fact it was a waste of petrol bringing it!! but I will remember it always, especially that hilarious excuse for a radio :)
