Ewan and Ailish left for Kangaroo Island on Monday morning for there annual (this is their second year so I figure I can officially call it an annual thing) week of father/daughter bonding. And since I haven't heard boo from either of them since they left I thought I would catch them up to speed with the week that was.
Hoping that this will lessen the "birds nest" look while away
- We went to the zoo on Monday and went into the new Envirodome. Inside you can see frogs, fish, seahorses, & chameleons (I think that's how you spell it, it's just too late in the evening to spellcheck). The most exciting thing the boys came across was a display that showed that when the earths temperature increase it "kills" the rivers (aka they dry up) - so for the rest of the day when they saw anything that should have had water in it they kept informing us that we had "killed" the water.
- On Tuesday we had a mini heat wave - it was 28 degrees. I loved it
- The boys had a sleepover at mums on Tuesday evening. They enjoyed last weeks sleepover so much that they were super excited about doing it again. So that meant I was home alone for the evening - I loved it. I stayed up late and slept in (not too much sleeping in because I did have work on Wednesday).
- On Tuesday a truck burst into flames in the Heysen tunnels (on the downhill side). There was so much damage that they had to resurface that whole side of the tunnel on Thursday. I had to take the Eagle on the Hill road to work and the boys thought this was pretty exciting.
- On Wednesday everyone was talking about the rains that were coming
- Callum wants to be a Rock Star. He informed me of this while he was playing air guitar to a song in the car.
- Thursday the rain arrived - and in a big way. I have been looking at the weather bureaus website checking on the rain over KI. I know you guys have had a lot, 40mms or so each day since Thursday. I hope this hasn't spoilt your time.
- Zac came to sleepover on Thursday evening.
- Friday we had tickets to a garden theatrical performance of Alice in Wonderland at Carrick Hill. The thought of walking around during the performance in the rain didn't excite me and I was secretly hoping that it would be cancelled. But it wasn't. It only rained a bit in the middle of the performance and the rest of the time the boys (Rowan, Callum, Zac & Angus) enjoyed following Alice around, Olivia not so much.

Just before the rain came
- The vacuum cleaner died this evening.
- Bookclub was at our place this evening and Caleb is sleeping over.
- Tomorrow there will be rain so I think we'll stay home, clean and get everyone ready for school on Tuesday.
Tomorrow they will return. Hopefully the boat ride back isn't too rough. They will bring me kisses and stories of their time away and lots and lots of dirty, filthy washing.

good to see you found so much to do to keep your mind busy and off the fact that 2 of your loves were gone. can't wait to see pics of their trip...i remember last years post...can't believe it's been a whole year already!!!
love to all...
That was a busy week. Zac was sooo pleased that you said he could sleep over so soon after he had the idea because when he asked me I told him that the holidays were practcally over and he might have to wait until july. He, wisely, thought to call you and ask. When you suggested the next night he was so pleased i'm suprised he slept at all.
You're a good sister and Aunt. I love you.
