I hope she comes with an instruction manual

Almost a year ago I received an unexpected email from my Aunt in the States. The start of the email was all innocent and full of pleasantries - how are you? how's the family? we are all well. And then the email went in a direction I wasn't expecting.

To cut a long story short, as a result of that email, by this time tomorrow night we will have a young single adult living under our roof for the next 6 months.

I thought I had a few more years - well, quite a few more years - before we were going to experience a YSA in our home. But this might be the best way to experience a YSA - we get a perfectly functioning YSA without experiencing the angst of those teenage years.

I think I'm onto something!

Maybe I'll send my kids away once they hit about 13yrs old and have them return when they are well adjusted human beings, with the prospects of being contributing members of society.

But I think I'm getting ahead of myself. She hasn't even arrived.

No worries! You'll love Em, but it will be a change for everyone. And then just when you're getting into a routine, the whole lot of us are coming!

I hope you'll send Alish in a few years here, or come here yourself, everyone's welcome!

Please give Em a hug for me. I miss her already.

I haven't seen Em for some time, but she was a bright and adorable little girl. I am sure she will be a blessing to your house.
