It was bound to happen

We're a pretty healthy family. We're not risk takers. And while we do have twin boys and they are pretty full-on, they are pretty safe players.

We've seen our fair share of cuts and bruises and Rowan did fracture his nose about 2 years ago as he tried to break the land speed record on a tricycle but we have avoided the need for a plaster cast.......

that is until today!

About 10:15am today I received a phone call from the kids school advising me that Callum had taken a fall from the play equipment and had had a blood nose and was complaining that his wrist was sore.

When I arrived to pick him up there was dried blood on his uniform, his left arm was in a sling and he had giant crocodile tears pouring down his face - my heart just broke.

So off to the doctors, who thought it was probably a sprain (and too be honest so did I), but he sent us for an x-ray just to be on the safe side. Boy am I glad he did. The x-ray showed that Callum had 3 greenstick fractures.

I knew this diagnoses meant that he was going to need a plaster cast, so back to the Doctor we went.

While the Doctor was pretty happy with what he saw, and wasn't overly concerned, he is referring us off to see an orthopedic doctor because the vertical fracture may be of some concern as Callum's bones grow.

So at 5:30pm we left the Doctors surgery with our very first plaster cast/weapon.

Callum, you look so upset to have such a terrific war wound - NOT!!!! although it does look a bit painful from the x-ray. Hope it heals well.

Oh no! I hope this is isn't the beginning of a pattern! Thank goodness the tears dried. I heart his pic!
